Peninsula Hospital Center has a highly trained medical staff and leading-edge technology to handle a variety of traumatic injuries and acute illnesses. 

 
  • A 300-member staff on call around the clock in most medical specialties.

  • A nursing staff that exceeds New York State requirements of training in advanced cardiac life support.

  • Protocol for TPA “clot-busters” and other up-to-the-minute, early interventions for chest pain signaling a coronary episode.

  • A dedicated X-ray unit in the department supported by 16-slice CAT scan, MRI and ultrasound capabilities to provide immediate results around the clock.

  • A Stroke Center designation by the New York State Department of Health assuring a highly trained Stroke Team is available and on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  •  Full-time pediatric emergency care in a dedicated pediatric treatment area.

  • Designation as a 911 receiving hospital.

  • A Helipad landing on-site provides readily accessible helicopter transportation for patients needing air ambulance to or from the Hospital Center.

  • A modern and comfortable waiting area for pediatric patients and a 24-hour security presence.

 

Working with the Community

 Our Emergency Department also provides training and CME credits to emergency personnel in the community in the areas of stroke and cardiac protocol to assure the best possible emergent care and smooth transition of patients from the ambulance to the Emergency Department.
